Letter to Winter

This piece is an exploration of the seasonal transition from winter to spring--when warmth starts to peek through the cool and the light starts to change. I often use the fan shape in my work because I love how it expresses both movement and stillness—a constant sense of potential opening and closing.

I riveted all the fan blades together, glazed the surface with oil glazes, drew with silver ink and added mica and 23 carat gold leaf.

Surprisingly lightweight, it is float mounted and ready to hang.
